Grotesque is a utility that helps you manage your collection of interactive fiction, or text adventures. Grotesque collects bibliographic and other information, and presents an iTunes-like interface to build a catalog of your games.
Grotesque is about ease of use and user friendliness. Playing interactive fiction should not require technical knowledge of the different formats or interpreters. Grotesque takes care of this for you.
In itself, Grotesque is merely a library tool, and does not include any interpreter - you will have to download and install interpreters from somewhere to actually play the games. A recommended set of interpreters is the stylish and functional Gargoyle (from which, in a way, Grotesque has derived its name); Gargoyle should make almost all interactive fiction available to you.
Grotesque is a GTK based application, primarily targeted for Linux users. Grotesque is free software and distributed under the GNU General Public License (GPL).
Grotesque takes advantage of the Treaty of Babel for automatically extracting information from games.
Grotesque is currently in beta - that means not everything is tested or guaranteed to work a 100%. Some functionality isn't very mature or does not work as streamlined as it should, yet. Still, it's likely that you will find Grotesque useful and is a big step forward compared to not using any similar application.
